Joanna and I are friends of friends, but also both graduated from MICA.  She, a gifted artist and teacher, designed much of the decor at the wedding—from the table settings to the cake topper (a fantastic hen/rooster set) and looked lovely in her great aunt’s wedding dress!  Although I didn’t get much opportunity to talk with Ryan between shooting, he does seem like a really nice guy; and he’s got some good dance moves, too!

Camera Obscura came out with a new album (My Maudlin Career) last year, but I’ve only recently gotten into it.  Alabama Public Television has a great vimeo page that catalogs their “We Have Signal” series, documenting live music in Birmingham.  They caught Camera Obscura as they came through town, and here is one great set, in my opinion!  Enjoy!

Zac’s mother offered to hold the wedding at her house in Leesburg, VA.  Great choice!  Plus, the wedding was a collaboration of friends and family for the most part–from the dining area to the food to the flower arrangements, so it, like my friend Heather’s wedding, was refreshingly homegrown and intimate.  It was a beautiful day, in spite of a torrential downpour and the typical humidity/heat factor of June in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area.  So combining beautiful people, scenic setting, delicious food, and plentiful beverages, this wedding will go down as one of the best I’ve experienced, I’m sure.

I’m working on scanning the negatives and producing a short run of the images for a show in July at Common Ground Cafe in Baltimore.  Stay tuned for more details.  Here is the first image from the series.
